Yeast infection

Vaginal yeast infection is most often caused by the yeast candida albicans. This yeast occurs in our bowel, mouth, skin and also is a natural inhabitant of the vagina of many women. Under certain, not fully explained circumstances yeast can manifest itself more pronounced in the vaginal environment and cause infectious complaints. By the age of 25, almost half of all women have experienced at least one episode of vaginal yeast infection. Together with bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection is one of the most common causes of vaginal infections. The most common complaints of vaginal yeast infection are excessive white, crumbly vaginal discharge and itching in the genital area. Swelling, redness, painful sex, irritation of the outer and inner labia and painful urinating are other frequently mentioned symptoms.

The origin of vaginal yeast infection are still mostly unclear, but recurrence of vaginal candidiasis often seems to be related to the menstrual cycle. Yeast infection is often ´easy to treat, but difficult to cure´ as very high frequencies of recurrence within a few months has been reported. New approaches that correct the vaginal dysbiosis and neutralize harmful microbes such as Candida albicans have become available in recent years. These strategies include the use of acidic gels, prebiotic stimulation of vaginal lactobacilli and natural anti-adhesive strategies that prevent harmful microorganisms from colonizing our body surfaces . Anti-adhesive strategies based on natural products are the innovative basis of the Multi-Gyn product line to prevent and treat vaginal infections and related discomforts.

Abnormal vaginal discharge

Abnormal discharge is most often caused by vaginal infection, but can also be caused by non-infectious irritation of the vagina (e.g. caused by tight trousers or occlusion with synthetic underwear or use of soaps in the intimate area). Bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis are the most common vaginal infections. Although these conditions usually are not serious infection that require medication, women can experience severe discomforts such as excessive or foul-smelling discharge. Multi-Gyn products are a great relief for vaginal complaints.

Itching

Vaginal itching is a very common discomfort; an unpleasant experience that can be caused by a number of factors. One of the most distinctive causes of vaginal itch is yeast infection. In this condition, it is often associated with a white, crumbly discharge. Also for BV itch is sometimes reported as a symptom, but not as often and severe as with yeast infection. Itch can also be caused by vaginal dryness or due to improper intimate hygiene. Intimate washing procedures with detergents, soaps, disinfectants or perfumed sprays is known to disrupt the natural microbiota and intravaginal douching can also remove the vaginal mucosa, which can result in dryness and itch. Multi-Gyn products can relief itch by neutralizing harmful microbes and by moisturizing the vaginal mucosa.

Vulvitis and Vaginitis

These are inflammation of the vulva (the female external genital area) and of the vagina. Vaginitis is often associated with abnormal discharge, itching and pain. The cause is usually a vaginal infections such as BV, candidiasis or Trichomoniasis, but it can also result from reduced estrogen levels and the associated vaginal dryness after menopause. Risk factors for developing vaginitis include hormonal changes, such as those associated with pregnancy, birth control pills or menopause, sexual activity, sexually transmitted diseases, medications, such as antibiotics and steroids, uncontrolled diabetes, improper vaginal hygiene (e.g. use of soaps, disinfectants, vaginal deodorant) and tight-fitting clothes

Multi-Gyn products neutralize infectious agents and can treats vaginal dryness by optimizing the vaginal moisturization. As these are the most common causes for vulvitis and vaginitis, Multi-Gyn products are very effective against inflammatory vaginal complaints.
